The German Congress for Laboratory Medicine 2024 motto is "WE.PROMOTE.GLOBAL HEALTH.".
This year's congress is dedicated to the unique challenges of the globalization of health. Three central topics are the focus:
Migration medicine: The increasing migration not only of humans, but also of animals and disease-transmitting vectors is leading to an expanded spectrum of diseases and poses special challenges for medical professionals. How can laboratories adapt to this? What new approaches to diagnosis and treatment are being pursued in migration medicine?
Gender medicine: Gender medicine is becoming increasingly important. Many reference values and treatment methods are based on data from male test subjects. How can laboratory medicine contribute to better medicine through adapted reference values and decision limits? How can gender bias be overcome, and the specific needs of all genders be better considered in laboratory medicine?
AI medicine: Artificial intelligence opens up new dimensions in medical diagnostics. Using AI, mass data can be integrated and combined with existing procedures in scientific work. How can AI be used in laboratory medicine in the future, and what innovative solutions does it offer to increase the efficiency and accuracy of diagnostics?
